Fix Your Room is a game in which a Dutch student goes through a simulated month of student life. Along the way, the student has to make choices that weigh money against happiness.

Game flow

The student goes through one month in the life of a simulated student. This month consists of making choices, paying bills, and receiving income. During the first month, the amounts and happiness points are not shown.

After the first month, the student gets an overview of all the choices they made, along with feedback on what went well and what didn't. In the second month, the amounts and happiness points ARE visible.

This means students spend the first month learning what they're doing right and wrong, so they can learn from it and make more conscious choices in the second month.

Extra features

Multiplayer: adding a multiplayer feature creates social pressure to perform better relative to fellow students. This motivates students to make more conscious choices.

Financial Behavior Model

For this app I did in-depth research into the financial behavior of Dutch students. This research formed the basis for the app's design. See the "Financieel gedrag model" project for the full model.
